The Origin Of Karma

(Okay, this isn’t exactly the origin of karma but bare with me…)

There once was a man named Darwin. He lived in a time when everyone believed in GOD and GOD created everything. Darwin was adventurous, smart and dare I say rebellious. He set out to the Galapagos Islands to prove his theory. He believed in evolution and natural selection, not GOD.

While the people of his time might not have been too impressed with his theories, he has become an extremely important chapter in our history books. He is one of my personal heros and he is greatly celebrated in the science community.

BUT, there was another man. His name was Wallace. Alfred Wallace. While Darwin was in the Galapagos, Wallace was in Brazil trying to prove the same theory. Unfortunately, his boat sank and he lost everything. But he started again in Indonesia. - He and Darwin published their first findings together.

So why did Wallace have such bad luck, and why isn’t he as important to us as Darwin is?

There are many theories that answer this question, but only mine is the right theory.

You see, Darwin came from a family rich with both money and connections. He had no problem funding his research and getting his hands on everything he needed for his explorations. Wallace was not that forunate. He had neither money nor connections. But he could have overcome this. Unfortunately, he decided to be stupid about it. To fund his research and exploration, he sold “birds of paradise” as either decorations or exotic pets to people back in Europe. You see, the only thing that truly differentiated Darwin and Wallace was karma. Wallace is a nobody because he had bad karma. All of those poor birds, captured from their homes, sold to strange animals in a different country and then either stuffed or probably starved to death. Wallace doesn’t deserve to be in our history books.

He’s a jerk.
