Neither my cats, dogs, or gecko eat a vegan diet.
Though I don’t agree with the industry, these animals don’t eat plants as part of their diet. None of the animals in their “family” do. I don’t agree with taking away somethings rights. If these animals were strays, they would eat meat. One of my cats is quite the hunter actually! The point of the matter is, these animals can’t make the decision to go vegan, and I don’t think it’s up to me to make it for them. All of my animals are very picky eaters. They only eat one or two kinds of foods anyway. I suppose I could try them on vegan foods and see if they liked it, but they probably wouldn’t. And that isn’t even an option for my gecko.
If I had a child, I would raise it on a vegan diet. But, when it was old enough to make the decision for it’s self, I would let it decide. The difference here is, never in evolution have primates been dependant on meat. They were always either vegetarian or omnivorous. Cats and dogs are not. They are carnivores. They were given the claws, muscles and teeth to hunt, catch and eat their prey. I’d like to see a human bring down a buffalo or even a gazelle with what nature has given us…
